Fanny Masemola has been the Police Commissioner of South Africa. Summoned To appear in court in relation to a health contract which is part of a criminal investigation.
Masemola will appear on April 21 in relation to his alleged involvement in the awarding of a controversial $21 million contract. The tender was awarded to controversial businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala's company, Medicare24 Tshwane District, in 2024 and was intended to provide health services to the police.
Following allegations of corruption linked to the awarding of the contract, a dozen senior police officers have been formally charged over their role in the deal, which has since been quashed. He has been accused of colluding with Matlala, who has also been charged. He is facing charges of corruption and fraud but has not yet been asked to plead.
