Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has included its South African counterpart To protest widely circulated videos showing xenophobic attacks against Ghanaian citizens. Abalakwa described the footage as “extremely disturbing” and urged South African authorities to take immediate action.

“The South African Foreign Minister has expressed sympathy for the victims and promised a full-scale investigation into these disappointing events,” Ablakwa said via social media. He said diplomats from the Ghana mission have located the primary victim shown in the viral video and are currently providing consular assistance.

The Ghanaian official said the South African government plans to hold a briefing with African ambassadors regarding xenophobic attacks.
