“I don't have the heart to be an actor or be in that world anymore,” Andrews honestly shared with his followers. “I think it's because of my depression and my social anxiety as well as my complex PTSD, which I've been very open with you guys about,” she said in an interview. candid instagram post.
This decision was not taken lightly. Andrews, who was creating part-time content while considering a return to acting, realized that her mental health struggles made traditional employment increasingly difficult.
“It's very hard for me to interact with people, and when you feel like that, it's very hard to have a normal job,” she explained.
“Content creation really works best for me because I get to work from home, I work for myself and on my bad days, I can just relax and take it easy.”
In 2024, Andrews opened up about the self-destructive path she took during her time in the entertainment industry, revealing a pattern of attention-seeking behavior that hid deep trauma.
“I wanted everyone to look at me, and I made sure everyone looked at me. I was loud, and I wore obnoxious outfits. Wherever I went, I made it a mission to attract attention, even if I just went into stores,” she reflected.
Through therapy, Andrews discovered underlying trauma that significantly impacts her daily life. “It's basically disrupted my life and I've had to give up a lot of things because of it,” he admitted.
Acting, which was central to Andrews' identity, became the hardest sacrifice.
“The hardest thing I had to give up was becoming an actor, even though I've tried many times to get back to that place. As soon as I try, I struggle completely. I get very stressed.”
Several attempts to return to the industry ended in extreme anxiety and depression, forcing Andrews to accept that her mental health had to come first.
He revealed his diagnosis and the complexity of his mental health journey. “Apparently, I may also have PTSD, but complex PTSD, which comes from childhood trauma and because I have a lot of flashbacks of things that maybe happened or things that I did to someone.”
Despite the challenges, Andrews is optimistic about her future as a full-time content creator. “So, I'm now officially a full-time South African content creator. Oh, I'm so excited. With that being said, I've also decided to start my own small business.”
