At the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi, global AI leaders gathered to outline the future of artificial intelligence – and Dario Amodei made clear that India is at the center of that future.

Speaking during a special keynote session, the Anthropic CEO praised the spirit of collaboration he witnessed during his visit. “I have been meeting with Indian builders and enterprises over the past few days, and the energy of building together here is palpable unlike anywhere else,” he said, in keeping with the mood of a summit attended by some of the world's biggest technology names.

The event has become a major platform for global AI discussions, with many leaders including Sundar Pichai participating in the conversation about India's growing role in the global AI ecosystem. For Amodei, the interaction with Indian startups, enterprises and policymakers reinforced the country's growing influence in shaping the next phase of AI development.

Anthropic, known for its cloud AI models and AI agents, is one of the many global companies expanding their footprint in India. The company recently announced its first base in Bengaluru, signaling its intention to take advantage of India's vast engineering talent and rapidly growing AI ecosystem.

During his keynote address, Amodei emphasized the extraordinary pace of AI advancement. “While progress in AI technology has been absolutely amazing, progress in commercial applications has become even more urgent,” he said, underscoring how innovation and market demand are growing together.

He also discussed the rapid development of AI agents and their growing capabilities. He said, “We are now well ahead on the AI curve and it has only taken a few years for AI models to surpass the cognitive abilities of most humans for most things. We are getting closer to AI agents that are more capable than most humans.”

While highlighting the immense potential of AI, Amodei was equally candid about the scale of responsibility that comes with such breakthroughs. He acknowledged the dual nature of transformative technologies, saying, “That level of capability (from AI) is something the world has never seen before, and it brings a wide range of opportunities and concerns for humanity.”

Beyond private sector applications, Amodei also emphasized the public value of AI. Earlier this week, at Anthropic's Builder Summit in Bengaluru, he explained how AI can strengthen governance systems. As the world's largest democracy, India has an opportunity to deploy AI to make governance more efficient and citizen-centric. “It's a really valuable use of technology,” he said.

As India positions itself not only as a consumer of AI technologies but also as a global co-creator, the summit reflects a broader shift in the global technology narrative. With multinational AI companies investing and expanding operations in the country, the conversation in Delhi shows that India's AI ambitions are no longer aspirational – they are actionable.

For Amodei and many others attending the summit, the message was clear: the momentum in India is real, collaborative and fast.
