The Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed that the South African School Administration and Management System (SA-SAMS) has been fully restored following a technical disruption.
The department issued a statement on Wednesday to alert those who may not have been able to print their student reports due to a technical glitch.
This comes as schools are scheduled to close on Friday and reopen on July 21.
A temporary technical issue with the system has led to concerns that thousands of students across the province could face delays in receiving their second-term report cards.
“MEC Lebogang Mel welcomes the restoration of the system and commends learners, parents, teachers and school administrators for their patience and understanding during the disruption,” MEC spokesperson, Onwabile Lubhelwana.
Lubhelwana confirmed that schools can now proceed with the printing, verification and issuance of students' report cards.
“On behalf of the Gauteng Department of Education, we would like to thank our school communities for their patience during this technical challenge. The resumption of SA-SAMS means schools can now continue the important administrative tasks of finalizing and issuing report cards without interruption,” MEC Mel said.
The department said it has already communicated with affected schools to resume report card processing and ensure that all students receive their academic records as soon as possible.
