Kenyans living in South Africa have been urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant in view of the recent protests affecting foreign nationals in some parts of the country.

In a statement on X, the Kenya High Commission in Pretoria urged people to avoid, as far as possible, areas where protests or demonstrations are taking place, and be attentive to guidance issued by local authorities.

“The Kenya High Commission in Pretoria wishes to advise all Kenyan nationals resident in the Republic of South Africa to exercise caution and remain vigilant in view of the recent demonstrations in some parts of the Republic of South Africa and isolated incidents affecting foreign nationals,” the statement said.

Additionally, Kenyans are encouraged to carry valid identification and relevant documents at all times.

Additionally, the advisory encouraged Kenyans to report incidents to the South African Police Service and to notify the Kenya High Commission in Pretoria for appropriate assistance in case of emergency.

The Mission reiterated its availability to assist affected civilians and provided contact channels for those in need of assistance.
