MoneyHash appoints Hwan Lee as regional director for Africa as it expands into high-growth markets
MoneyHash, a payments orchestration platform for emerging and global markets, has appointed Hwan Lee as its new Regional Director for Africa. The strategic hire reflects MoneyHash’s continued expansion into high-growth African markets and a broader vision to help businesses scale and manage complex payments operations across providers, methods and markets in emerging economies.
Hwan brings deep experience in partnerships, commercial development and market expansion to Africa’s growing fintech ecosystem. His appointment comes as MoneyHash grows its presence across the continent, supporting businesses across fragmented payments landscapes and growing digital commerce demand.
Accelerating development across Africa
MoneyHash has identified Africa as one of the main pillars of its international growth strategy, citing the continent's rapidly growing digital economies, growing cross-border commerce and growing demand for scalable payments infrastructure.
As part of its growing presence across the continent, MoneyHash has expanded relationships with businesses active in African markets, including companies such as Luno, Lumepay, and Move. Hwan Lee has been instrumental in supporting these efforts, bringing deep ecosystem relationships and business experience to Africa’s growing fintech landscape.
“Building across Africa requires strong local relationships, commercial depth and a clear understanding of the scale of businesses in complex markets,” said Mohammed Ameer, Head of Sales and Solutions at MoneyHash. “Hwan brings all three, and his leadership will be vital as we continue to expand our work across the continent.”
As businesses in Africa are looking for more efficient ways to manage multiple providers, currencies and payment methods, MoneyHash sees a significant opportunity to help merchants simplify complexity through orchestration.
“Africa represents one of the most exciting growth opportunities in global payments today,” said Nader Abdelrazik, Chief Executive Officer of MoneyHash. “Hwan's leadership experience and deep market understanding will be vital as we expand across the continent and help businesses scale with greater control, flexibility and efficiency.”
Building local leadership in diverse markets
As Regional Director for Africa, Lee will lead MoneyHash's commercial strategy and market development across the continent. His focus will include strengthening partnerships, deepening enterprise relationships, and helping merchants scale through MoneyHash's orchestration infrastructure.
MoneyHash's platform enables businesses to connect multiple payment providers through a single integration, offering smart routing, multi-currency support, and integrated reporting across markets. The platform increases payment authorization rates while maintaining maximum scalability.
“Africa’s payments ecosystem is rapidly evolving, with businesses increasingly looking for infrastructure that can scale across borders while optimizing locally,” said Hwan Lee, Regional Director for Africa at MoneyHash. “I am excited to join MoneyHash and help merchants unlock growth through strong payments operations and modern infrastructure.”
Proven commercial leadership in African fintech
Lee joins MoneyHash after more than eight years at Ozo, one of South Africa’s leading fintech companies, where he most recently served as Head of Partnerships. In that role, he led strategic alliances and growth initiatives in a dynamic and fast-growing payments environment.
Early in his career at Ozo, Lee held senior commercial and business development roles, helping to grow merchant relationships and market access across South Africa.
His appointment reinforces MoneyHash’s commitment to investing in local leadership in strategic growth markets and building a strong on-the-ground presence across Africa.
