Residents who need assistance with services such as filing tax returns, applying for a tax number or resolving account queries during tax season will soon have to visit a new SARS branch in Johannesburg.
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) Johannesburg CBD Service Center is relocating from its current premises on the corner of Risik and Albert Streets.
According to SARS communications specialist Geraldine Frohling, the branch will officially open at its new location from 09:00 on 4 May.
“The new branch will be based at Shop 137 (Level 1), 100 Carr Street, Newtown Junction Mall and will operate under the name SARS Newtown JHB Service Centre,” he said.
The branch will operate from 08:00 to 16:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 09:00 to 16:00 on Wednesday.
Froehling said all existing services will still be available at the new location and will be provided on an appointment basis.
Appointments can be booked through SARS website By selecting the “Book an Appointment” option, by sending an SMS with the word “Booking” to 47277 along with an ID number, or by using the SARS MobiApp.

- Bring all required documentation including your ID and tax reference number.
- Use SARS e-filing where possible to save time.
- Make sure your personal and banking details are up to date.
