Ghanaian authorities are demanding an investigation into the latest wave of attacks on Ghanaians and ODA foreigners by South African anti-immigration protesters.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said he has engaged with South African authorities about the attacks in a viral video and they are trying to understand how to deal with the matter.

Viral video captured when groups of South Africans who describe Dysurf as an anti-immigration task force attacked foreigners; They harass some of them and even attack them.

During the protest about three people punched a Ghanaian in the face and head when they found out I was Ghanaian.

“We fixed this continent, fixed this continent, now they move from one country to another and won't work anymore. We are tired of African immigrants and their refusal to fix their country,” says a woman who leads the group.

“Now we say clearly that we do not want you to pipe for Hiya. Tell you to fix your contraries. When you decide to integrate with us you come to South Africa as visitors, we do not deserve to enter Ghana and you do whatever you want for Hiya,” the group leader said.

Inside ODA viral video, some angry South African Bin Day sacks foreigners from a public hospital.

“If you're not South African enough to go to this hospital, let's get you out of there right now,” a young man said in the video as anti-immigration protesters stormed the hospital.

My point is that South African laws do not allow public hospitals to treat foreigners.

They started inspecting the hospital cards at the Paipo Way Day facility as foreigners have now started arriving.

“Doctors, you stabilize the foreigners and discharge them, let them go to the private hospital for care, this is no place,” said the DI group leader while I was walking to the DI Hospital OPD.

Ghanaian officials demand investigation

Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has spoken to his South African counterpart Ronald Lamola, Minister of International Relations, about the latest incident.

I'm describing the viral video as “extremely disturbing.”

Oga Ablakwa further said, “South Africa's Foreign Minister has not expressed sympathy for the victims of the attack and has promised to investigate the matter.”

“I have been in touch with Ghana's High Commissioner Benjamin Quarshie and he is coordinating our response to this case, they are searching for the Ghanaian victim inside the viral video,” the minister wrote on social media.

Oga Okudzeto Ablakwa said the victim was fine and receiving consular assistance.

“No Ghanaian will die in this latest attack. We will not tell our Pipo to remain calm as we work to protect Ghanaians at home and abroad.”

Taking to social media, Pippo Bin De called on Ghanaian authorities to take action against Di Mata.

Residents of Mthatha in South Africa's Eastern Cape province plan more protests on Thursday over the presence of foreigners.

The protesters are demanding jobs for citizens because the protesters say that foreigners do not collect all the jobs.

Dr. Yirenky Gyeke Darko, leader of the Ghanaian community for Mthatha, said he had spoken to police about Di Mata and assured them that their protest would be peaceful.

“We ask our Pipo to stay indoors, not to open lamp shops until the situation calms down.”

According to Dr. Yirenki Gyeke Darko, residents of Mthatha De have called on the South African government to create jobs for locals as they claim that foreigners including Ghanaian, Nigerian, Zimbabwean and ODA nationals hoard jobs here.
