- Power couple Coco and J'Something hosted the second edition of their Valentine's Day event, Lovers Rock Festival, on Saturday.
- The festival included performances from Jay's band Mi Casa, DJ Kent and Liquidip.
- Coco and Jay recently celebrated 10 years together.
“We welcome you. Not as an idea, but as a practice. Not as perfection, but as desire.”
Before Mi Casa's Valentine's Day performance, lead singer J'Something and his wife, Cordelia 'Coco' Godey, came on stage hand in hand to read their heartfelt 'Letter to Love'.
This spoken word moment instantly silenced the crowd, creating an emotional atmosphere for Lovers Rock Festival.
A platform created in response to the growing distrust in love.
As the world becomes increasingly concerned about love and relationships, Coco and Jay have created exactly what their letter promised: a space that welcomes love “for the love that brought us here, for the love we are learning to keep, and for the love we still believe is possible.”
Jay said, “The genesis of it was us seeing or feeling a growing distrust in love.”
For Coco, the event represents more than a romantic celebration; It is a celebration of human connection.
“For me, more than anything, love is belonging. Whether it's with your friends or your family, if you have a place where you belong, you feel safe. Life has made us so tired. It's important to take a moment and celebrate something positive. Love is the reason we do almost everything,” she said.
where love gets a chance to play
True to their philosophy that “love should be fun,” Jay and Coco transformed the festival grounds into a playground for hearts of all ages. A standout addition this year was a full carnival, complete with tea cups and a raging bull, designed to remind attendees that “you need to play, you need to be innocent like a child and have fun.”
This year's lineup includes DJ Kent, Sir LSG and DJ Souldiva, Bella Worldwide and Liquiddeep, the deep house duo who recently returned to music after an 11-year hiatus.
A decade of choosing each other
Coco and Jay have spent a decade building a life together, a journey they openly share through their online couple brand, where they document love, partnership, growth, and vulnerability.
Jay says his approach is simple.
“How do we stay connected and stay in love, not just care about each other, but for life, to live one day at a time. Life is never yesterday or tomorrow. It's always today. When she wakes up, and I look at her, I say, 'Wow.' When we go to bed, and we're still together, I'm like, 'Wow.' Taking life one day at a time really makes you maximize life.
give up feeling of love
From casual picnic spots to special branded zones designed with festival partners, Lovers Rock created spaces where guests could relax, connect and enjoy the atmosphere between sets. One of these was Windhoek's sponsored seating lounge, a tranquil, stylish retreat inspired by the brand's ethos of “Real Beer, Real Food and Nothing Else”. Under huge canvas umbrellas and in the shade of tall trees, the lounge featured soft, curved sofas, sculptural chairs and high tables in warm, neutral tones. Natural textures like woven rattan pendants and raw wood finishes add a touch of effortless charm, making it a perfect place to stop and relax. As the Valentine's Day festivities ended and attendees began to head home, the impact of Lovers Rock became evident in the genuine relationships formed throughout the day. Whether people came as couples, with friends or alone, the festival created space for authentic moments that went beyond the usual entertainment. For Jay and Coco, seeing these relationships was the real measure of success.
“Hopefully people leave feeling loved, whether it's from another or from within. Love is not a destination. Love is life. Life is love,” Jay reflected.
