Five suspected female South African drug mules arrested at OR Tambo International Airport, according to reports sabc news. Police have said that drugs worth more than Rs 5 million were hidden on the bodies and clothes of the suspects. Police said the group was headed to China via Dubai. The suspects are expected to appear at Kempton Park Magistrates' Court on drug trafficking charges while the investigation continues.

Western Cape Health to fill 800+ positions

According to reports, the Western Cape Department of Health and Welfare is filling more than 800 positions as part of its R34.47 billion 2026/27 budget. EWN. The department said it marks a shift from crisis response to rebuilding and strengthening the health care system. More than R106 billion will be invested over three years in areas such as primary care, emergency services, digital systems and prevention programmes. The department aims to improve access to care and reduce pressure on facilities, with a strong focus on prevention, including vaccination, HIV and TB programs, despite ongoing budget constraints.
